Circle Reading Study is an effort to test the effectiveness of our curriculum by following a sample of Circle Graduates to determine how they are performing in school.  As part of this project the Board of Directors established a scholarship fund--with a twist.  The funds are earmarked to help Circle Alumni who are having academic problems -- to promote scholarship by funding tutors or other special assistance.

At Circle Preschool we placed great emphasis on language development.  Research studies, as well as simple observations, tell us that the critical period for learning language occurs in the preschool years. Our aim was to devise a curriculum that provided the skills and concepts children need in order to become capable readers.  Our curriculum has always been a work in progress, always subject to improvement.  That's why we need your help.

PARENTS:   If you know a family whose child attended Circle, help us contact them.  Go to our Update page and send us their address, phone, or email address.  Or tell them about this website.

Many of you may have received and responded to the survey we sent last year.  (If so, thankyouthankyou thankyou!) Whether you responded already or not, if you think your child may need help, go to Update and fill out the information. All information is absolutely confidential.

TEACHERS:  If you have a child in your class who attended Circle Preschool but nevertheless is not reading at (or near) grade level, tell the parents about this project and how to contact us.

In order to receive funding, the child must have a Referral from his/her teacher.    All information is absolutely confidential, and of course, requires parental consent.

The Reading Study is focusing on Circle Alum who are now in the elementary grades.  We want to find those children who need help and may qualify for scholarship funds, but we're also interested in hearing from those who are doing well (by far the most, we expect). Check out our Update page for details.

Although the Study sample includes only elementary ages, we'd love to hear from any of our graduates.  Send us email or snail mail, maybe a picture, tell us when you attended Circle, what you're doing now, and we'll post it (with your consent, of course) on our Remember? page.
